The Senior Director, Product Development is responsible for product and service development by using needs assessments, business development/sales skills, market analysis, and business case modeling efforts. Supports parent Company product and service development programs for strategic growth and business development initiatives. Assists with hosted payload and fleet development programs, technical analysis, bandwidth demand analysis, and spectrum analysis.

 

Experience/Qualifications:

·   Master’s Degree in Engineering or Satellite Communications or a minimum of fifteen (15) years experience with satellite engineering, operations and systems engineering

·   At least ten (10) years program/project management experience or equivalent leadership experience in government  (DoD/US) satellite oriented operations

·   Demonstrated leadership experience in product development, engineering management, and business development

·   Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations and strong background/experience in dealing with government customers and acquisition processes

·   Ability to anticipate customer needs, satellite operational issues, assess implications, determine impact, develop and implement an appropriate action plans

·   Ability to provide outstanding presentations to both commercial/DoD audiences

·   Excellent verbal and written skills - experience in U. S. Government proposal writing

·   Ability to think strategically and plan accordingly

·   Ability to travel 25% of the time both international/domestically to meet with customers

Essential Job Functions:

·   Define SES GS customer product requirements in collaboration with internal Business Development, Sales, Program Management, and Service Delivery teams

·   Advocate for SES GS product development initiatives within parent organization

·   Perform product lifecycle functions and acts as a product owner for portfolio

·   Closely aligns with the SES Product Line Management organization to ensure use/adherence to SES PLM product development processes/reports requirements

·   Ensure that product development efforts raised by SES GS align with and take advantage of the SES product and service portfolio to the greatest extent possible

·   Works with SES development groups to study and propose the introduction of new fleet technologies, products/services that meets the needs of Government customers

·   With the support of a cross functional team, leads efforts to define, develop, and maintain product development documentation such as Market Requirements Documents, Go-To-Market Plans, sustainment plans, support plans, and pricing

·   Defines business product strategies/tactics for the SES GS and implements approved plans for improving SES GS’ position in the satellite industry market

·   Identifies, qualifies/develops mid to long-term business development opportunities

·   Seeks out opportunities for new fleet investments and/or developments which are consistent with the strategic goals/financial objectives of SES GS and SES

·   Supports development of new fleet offerings to improve market presence for SES GS

·   Works with partners to improve commercial/government interactions to include War Games, Commercial Integration Cell and Space Data Association

·   Works with SES developing business case investments competing in Govt market

·   Works with senior leadership on large strategic opportunities, provides support wherever possible for activities that generate or improve revenues from SES assets

·   Identifies, prioritizes and, where appropriate, executes on opportunities (alliances, joint ventures, etc.) which deliver on SES GS growth objectives

·   Develops/maintains relationships with governmental organizations, competitors, satellite operators and vendors for potential market development opportunities
